Tanoso 1D1F Project To Employ 1,800

WORK HAS assiduously begun on a ceramic factory under the One District, One Factory (1D1F) programme at Tano North District in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The factory, when completed, is expected to employ 1,800 people including 100 university and polytechnic graduates, according to Carl Christian Lokko, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rhovanni Royal Limited, owners of the company.

The Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Evans Opoku Bobie inspected progress of work on Monday and expressed satisfaction about the work done so far.

The factory when completed will produce bricks, including perforated ones, cooler, porcelain and different types of tiles among other clay products.

The CEO disclosed that the factory can produce 125 tons of clay products a day.

He explained that the company has acquired 27.79 acres of land for the project which is a partnership with a foreign counterpart.

He said currently administrative blocks for managers, middle level managers and other staff are under construction and was optimistic that within six months everything will be ready including the necessary equipment for the project to take off.

Mr Bobie, lauded him for the progress of work. He said with the help of the government, the company has received a facility from the Chinese Exim Bank for the project.

“As the regional minister, it is my responsibility to go round project areas and assess development of work under the 1D1F, hear their challenges and see what we can do for smooth production to begin,” he stated.

According to him, the Brong Ahafo Region has registered 19 companies under the 1D1F. Among them are, a Cassava Factory for the processing of cassava and plantain chips at Asunafo North, Charcoal Factory for production of charcoal at Atebubu for exportation to Europe and Poultry Products Factory at Dormaa Ahenkro.

He said the first tranche of the Exim Bank facility for the projects has already been released for the contractors to do good work. He also urged the indigenes who have been employed to work diligently to maintain their position.
