Political Parties Must Maintain Healthy Political Relationship - NPP

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) through the Deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri Boahen has called on all the political parties especially his party and the main opposition NDC to maintain healthy relationship for the welfare of this country.

Giving a solidarity message at the NDC’s 9th National Delegates Congress at the Fantasy Dome, Trade Fair Center, Nana Obiri Boaahen said in spite of the peaceful co-existence of the political parties, it will be hypocritical to fail to acknowledge the rising incidence of acrimony, politics of insults, character assassination and the use of unprintable words in the politics, propaganda, insult and pure lies to destroy the political atmosphere.

“If we continue down this road, we will scare the good people of Ghana away from the opportunity to serve our country in dignity. As politicians, we have a duty to lead by example by upholding and respecting our values and virtues of our society. Tolerance, decency and discipline must guide the way we interact with each other”, he averred.

He stressed that “as leaders, we have to blaze the path worth emulating by celebrating our diversity, restoring hope and also demonstrating high sense of maturity in order to restore confidence and trust of the good people of our dear nation and among us the political parties”.

According to him, being a credible opposition is not only limited to criticizing everything for its sake and failing to give credit where it is due.

“As you have gathered here today to elect your national officers, it is our prayer and expectation that people will not indulge in insults, vilifications, mudslinging, and lampooning. This piece of advice goes to all the political parties”, he charged.
