'We Must Be Proud of Our Party and Proud of Our Records In Gov't' - Ex-Prez Mahama

Former President John Mahama in his speech in the 9th Delegates' Congress at the Trade Fair Centre has asked the delegates and the entire party machinery to freely choose a Presidential Candidate they think can carry the party back to the Flagstaff House.

Putting the delegates fears to rest, the former President assured the delegates that he is always ready to support and encourage the NDC in its wake to winning the 2020 general elections even if he is not the Flagbearer of the party.

“We have begun our journey back to the Flagstaff House and on my part, I can confidently promise you that I shall continue to provide the needed support and encouragement to the party on that journey and it will not matter who the Flagbearer of our party is,” he assured.

He reminded the delegates to do the needful by voting into office competent national executives as their choice will  determine the future of the NDC and the country at large.

“It is important to keep in mind that the choice we make here today will contribute to the determination of the future of the NDC and also of Ghana. We must therefore put our best foot forward to rescue Ghana from the abysmal performance of the Nana Akufo-Addo and New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration,” he reminded.

He mentioned that the NDC at any given opportunity to serve in government has given more rapid progress in terms of development and improvement in the economic activities of which Ghanaians can attest to it as business confidence was at all time high prior to 2017.

“The grassroots of our party, the hardworking farmers, the fishermen, the artisans, the teachers, the nurses and other public sector workers, the business and investment communities have all seen the clear difference between our great party and the NPP,” he said.

Former President Mahama again stressed that “we cannot fail all these people. We must be proud of our party and proud of our records in government”.
