15 NDC Delegates In Crash

About 15 delegates of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been rushed to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital for treatment after they got involved in a gory accident near the EL-WAK stadium in Accra.

They were delegates billed to take part in electing national executives of the party and were being conveyed from Kingsby in Achimota to the Accra International Trade Fair Centre where the conference is being held.

The accident occurred in the afternoon of Saturday, 17 November 2018, when the driver of the vehicle lost control of the steering wheel and veered off the road into a ditch, as he attempted to prevent crashing into other vehicles that were on the road.

Among the injured are three constituency executives of the party’s Mpraeso branch in the Eastern Region including Constituency Secretary Osei Bonsu.

The 9th National Annual Congress of the NDC will see 65 aspirants consisting of 59 males and six females contesting for various national executive positions of the party.

About 15,000 people made up of 9,350 delegates and 5,650 observers, are expected to be at the venue.

The positions to be contested for are: National Chairman, Vice-Chairman, General Secretary, Deputy General Secretary, National Organiser, Deputy National Organiser, Communications Officer, Deputy Communications Officer, National Executive Committee members and the Zongo Caucus Coordinator.

The keenest contest is between Mr Johnson Aseidu Nketia and Mr Koku Anyidoho for the General Secretary position.
