Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, a flag bearer aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has shared the seven points transformational agenda with delegates at the Ninth National Congress held in Accra.

He said the seven pillars, which he described as his vision for the NDC, were to strengthen Party members financially, physically, psychologically and socially.

Dr Spio-Garbrah shared his vision with delegates in separate meetings at the sidelines of the Ninth National Congress of the NDC Party at the International Trade Fair Cente, Accra.

The congress elected National Executives to man the affair of the Party in the next four years and would also facilitate the election of a flagbearer who will lead the Party alongside the executives into the 2020 general elections

After interaction with the delegates that included Central, Western, Ashanti and Volta Regions they were given the opportunity to asked questions and seek for clarifications.

Dr Spio-Gabrah said the visions included the strengthening of the Party structures, a creation of welfare committees and spending most time at NDC headquarters.

The rest were human capacity building programme, strengthening of the women's wing, the creation of a credit union for members and establishment of a Nkrumah/Rawlings ideology for the NDC
The Former Trade Minister explained that the Party used classrooms and other facilities as offices in most of the constituencies, and indicated that the offices lacked equipment for operations.

In his bid to strengthen the structures of the Party, he said he would engage business people in the various constituencies to support the establishment of offices equipped with basic office needs to facilitate the execution of Party work.

Touching on the institution of the Welfare Committee, Dr Spio-Garbrah disclosed that there were many NDC members who faced health and other challenges, but they did not get the needed support from the Party.

“Having gone round the country to meet some of these people who are in difficulties, I have the vision to establish a welfare committee that will be responsible for developing different packages to assist members who faced health and other challenges at the national, regional and constituency levels,” he said.

For his vision on education, Dr Spio-Garbrah said he would arrange with local and foreign educational institutions to offer training for qualified Party members.

He proposed the creation of a credit union that would provide an opportunity for members to have an account with the Party.

The idea, he said, would make all NDC members shareholders who would be entitled to a profit.

On the vision for women, Dr Spio-Garbrah indicated, was to revive the Women Wing of the Party by working to potentially bring the Former First lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings back to the Party to make the Wing vibrant.

“The Women's Wing has become very weak after the ruling New Patriotic Party, upon the assumption of power, was attacked by 12 state institutions and crippled their activities.

“Women play a formidable and frontal role in the Party, but now that they need to be resuscitated. In the Ashanti Region when I met over 58 NDC communicators, only four were women,” Dr Spio-Garbrah said.
