2018 WASSCE For Private Candidates - WAEC Withholds 2160 Results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has withheld the entire results of 2,160 candidates who wrote this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates for allegedly involving in various examination malpractices.

The results are being withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into the cases of malpractices.

This was contained in a statement issued by WAEC on the release of provisional results of 133,986 candidates who sat for this year’s WASSCE for private candidates.

“The withheld results will be released as soon as the council concludes investigations. Candidates may access their results online at www.waecgh.org,” it said.

The statement cautioned members of the public to be wary of the activities of fraudsters who contacted candidates with the promise of bettering their results for a fee payable through mobile money transfers.

“Members of the public are assured that the council’s results database is well secured. As such, all forged results can be detected by the confirmation or verification system.

“Institutions and organisations are advised to confirm or verify results presented to them directly from the council or access the confirmation/verification online at the WAEC website,” the statement signed by the WAEC Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, said.
