NDC Presidential Hopefuls Not Banned From Kumasi

THE NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase Constituency has denied rumours that it has imposed a ban on presidential candidates of the party.

Speculations indicated that the party executives had warned all but ex-President Mahama against visiting the constituency to campaign.

This is said to have ignited tension and anger among party members, who see the alleged action of the party executives as unfair and divisive.

But in a sharp rebuttal, the Asawase NDC Chairman, Alhaji Mutum, who was speaking on OTEC FM, a Kumasi based radio station stated that “it is never true that we have banned the presidential candidates from visiting our area.

“All the presidential candidates are at liberty to visit Asawase and campaign for votes. We shall welcome all of them when they visit Asawase to campaign”.

Alhaji Mutum, however disclosed that the Asawase executives of the party have endorsed Mr. Mahama because he is the best person to lead the party to electoral victory.

According to him, Ghana is currently on the way to destruction following the bad leadership style of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government. He, therefore, stressed on the need for the delegates to give their mandate to Mr. Mahama so that he can snatch power for the party in 2020.

He also disclosed that the Asawase branch of the NDC had decided to pay the GH¢20,000 nomination fee for Mr. Mahama.
