Government Of Ghana And The European Union Hold 2018 Political Dialogue On 6 December, 2018

Government of Ghana and the European Union delegation and its member States met in Accra for the 2018 edition of the Political Dialogue.

Ghana and the European Union are partners and share common values, principles and interests. The Political Dialogue is a central part of the Cotonou Partnership Agreement which stipulates in Article 8, that “The parties shall regularly engage in a comprehensive, balanced and deep political dialogue leading to commitments on both sides”

The Vice President of Ghana, H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, and the H.E. Ambassador Diana Acconcia, Head of the European Union delegation to Ghana, jointly chaired the meeting on behalf of the Government of Ghana and the European Union (EU), respectively.

Deliberations at the political dialogue, which were frank and constructive, focused on issues relating to trade, investment, business environment in Ghana, migration and human rights, multilateral affairs and regional integration, common action on regional security and sustainable development, among others.
