Naana Baiden Agyarko, wife of the late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuguon, Hon. Emmanuel Agyarko, has dismissed media reports that she is interested in succeeding her late husband for the vacant parliamentary seat.

According to a family spokesperson, Kwame Nsiah Poku, Mrs. Baiden Agyarko has no interest in succession plan for the late MP's seat.

Mr. Agyarko died on November 21, 2018, from a prolonged illness, and he’s yet to be buried. While a date is yet to be fixed for a bye-election, posters of both widows have emerged with passionate supporters calling on the two wives of the late NPP MP to go for their late husband’s seat as MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon.

Earlier this week, social media was flooded with posters of both widows of the late MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, reportedly tussling over who succeeds the late MP as the party's preferred candidate for the area.

Additionally, some polling station executives and some constituents of the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, including some students of the University of Ghana and GIMPA, reportedly clashed at the NPP Greater Accra Regional Party Office each clamouring for one of the widows to replace her late husband.

They insisted the first wife of the late MP Naana Agyarko must be allowed to stand for the position solely or they would not vote.

Speaking on Okayfm's "Ade Akye Abia" Programme, Mr. Nsiah reiterated that Mrs. Agyarko is only interested in how her late husband will receive a befitting burial and be laid to rest peacefully.

“Mrs. Naana Baiden Agyarko has not given permission to anybody to use her name or lobby for her to succeed the late husband. Her worry is how the focus has shifted from the burial and funeral rites of the great man to who will succeed him," he said.

He urged those going round in the name of Mrs. Agyarko to put a stop to it and rather sympathize with the bereaved family.
