Wontumi Wins Best Farmer Award

BERNARD ANTWI Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), picked an award during the 34th National Farmers’ Day celebration.

Mr. Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi, was the recipient of the Ashanti Regional Best Farmer, first runner-up award.

Even though Wontumi started his farming business few years ago, his 10,000-acre maize farm was said to have done the trick for him.

For his efforts, Wontumi, whose farm is located at Sekyere Central District, was presented a certificate during the awards.

The certificate captured Bernard Antwi Boasiako’s name and the location of his farm in the Ashanti Region. It read: “In recognition of the outstanding contribution towards the development of agriculture in Ghana, given this day December 7, 2018”.

The certificate was signed by the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto and it was to honour Wontumi for a good job done.

Wontumi told DAILY GUIDE that humanity would cease to exist without food and so he had decided to contribute towards food production, adding that the award would not make him swollen headed, because it is just the beginning of his farming career.

The Ashanti Regional NPP chairman, who is also a businessman, said his wish is to produce food for Ghana and other countries in the world very soon.
