John Mahama Doesn’t Understand The Free SHS Double Track System – Deputy Education Minister

Deputy Education Minister, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum says former President John Dramani Mahama seems not to understand the double track system of the free SHS programme.

He has therefore challenged the former President to seek further explanation on the double track system.

Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed dismay over the decision by the government to include second year Senior High School (SHS) students in the double track system.

Despite the government’s claim that the double track system was not going to affect second and third year students, all second year SHS students are still on vacation, as they wait to go back to school in March.

The unfortunate situation has become a matter of concern for Mr Mahama who says it is not proper to keep the students at home for such a long time.

Ex-President Mahama said this when he addressed delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Sefwi-Akontombra on Sunday as part of his five-day flagbearership campaign tour of the Western Region.

He says attending SHS is a life time experience for students and it is therefore dangerous for any government to mismanage secondary education as the NPP government is doing.

However, speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe constituency explained that just as the system is working per their arrangement, nothing has changed and it follows according to their arrangement.

"The former President should be mindful of what he says else he will continue disgracing himself especially on issues such as this," he explained.
