DISCLAIMER… CID Boss Reacts To “We’ve Never Arrested NAM1; We Have No Case Against Him” Reportage

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, says publication circulating that her outfit never arrested the Chief Executive Officer of gold dealership firm, Menzgold; Nana Appiah Mensah is “untrue”.

According to her, a reportage by 3news.com  with the headline “We’ve never arrested NAM1; we have no case against him – CID boss” is “misleading”.

In a disclaimer statement copied to Peacefmonline.com, the security capo said “the headline is very misleading with distorted contents and not the true representation of the telephone interview I granted one Peter of TV3 about the arrest of Nana Appiah Mensah alias NAM 1.”

Her denial follows claims by the founder of think tank Danquah Institute (DI), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, that NAM1 has fled Ghana and gone into hiding.

Following a demonstration by aggrieved clients of the company in Kumasi on Tuesday, 8 January 2018, Mr Asare Otchere-Darko tweeted: “I understand the owner of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, has breached his bail condition and absconded.

“We can’t allow those who allegedly dupe people with such impunity to get away with it that easily. Let’s smoke them out, wherever they are, and throw the book at them!

“While I will not want a pesewa of my tax money to be involved with this Ponzi matter, I believe the majority of Ghanaians will agree with me that the law must come down heavily on those who use such schemes to destroy the lives of many people”.

DISCLAIMER

My attention has been drawn an erroneous publication published on 3news.com and other media platforms with the headline “We’ve never arrested NAM1; we have no case against him – CID boss”

The headline is very misleading with distorted contents and not the true representation of the telephone interview I granted one Peter of TV3 about the arrest of Nana Appiah Mensah alias NAM 1.

One PETER of TV3 called and wanted to confirm whether or not NAM1 has jumped bail from the police.

I said no but rather we are looking for him to be arrested and that we have even obtained a warrant of arrest.  There was not a point in time that I said we have no case against him. I will therefore urge the public to treat the public to treat the publication with the contempt it deserves.
