W/R Police Intercept Unregistered Vehicle With Pistol And Ammunitions

The Western Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (RMTTD) has intercepted an unregistered Toyota Rav 4 vehicle with weapons and ammunition.

DSP Olivia Awurabena Adiku, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi, said the driver on seeing the police took to his heels and entered a near-by bush near Shama- Kumasi.

She said a search of the car revealed one pistol, two magazine guns loaded with seven rounds of ammunitions, 23 AAA ammunitions, six rolls of dried leaves concealed in a phone cover, suspected to be Indian hemp, master keys and two temporary drivers licence bearing the names of Andoh Bismarck and Quansah Benjamin Abeku.

DSP Adiku said the vehicle and exhibits had been handed over to Regional Crime Investigation Department in Sekondi for further investigations.
