One Birth Per Every Two Hours At Nsawam Govt Hospital - Medical Superintendent

Over six thousand (6000) babies are born annually at the Nsawam Government Hospital, making an annual average of One Birth per every Two Hours at the 50-bed capacity Maternity Ward of the hospital.

This situation has brought a huge pressure on the maternity ward.

Dr Kofi Ablorh, Medical Superintendent of the Nsawam Government Hospital made this known today, Monday, when the MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri constituency and Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of Parliament donated chairs worth about twenty five thousand Ghana Cedis (Gh 25,000 .00) to the Out Patient Department (OPD) of the Hospital.

According to Dr Kofi Ablorh, the hospital is looking for funding to construct additional 50-bed capacity maternity block at the hospital which will cost about Ghc 1.5 million.

Speaking to Peace FM in an interview, Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh promised to continue to offer necessary support to the hospital to help it function effectively and appealed to corporate bodies to help build an additional Maternity block for the hospital.

Apart from the donation of the chairs, Hon Annoh-Dompreh said he provided support towards the setting up of the accident and emergency ward at the hospital.
