Nhyinahin multipurpose centre to host over 25 sporting disciplines

The 5,000 seater, multipurpose Youth and Sports Center, under construction, at Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region, will host over 25 sporting disciplines.

Mr. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister for Youth and Sports, revealed this to the GNA Sports, in an interview, after a tour of the facility on Monday, January 14.

The project, which would be completed in some few months time, would have both outdoor and indoor sporting facilities, as well as ICT centre, entrepreneurship centre, counselling centre, restaurant and a hostel facilities.

Mr. Asiamah, said, work was almost complete as contractors, were working hard to ensure that, the youth of Nhyinahin and Ashanti Region, had a modern edifice to exhibit their talents.

"I have witnessed the quality of work being done here and it is impressive. It would enhance the development of sports in the country.

"This project would not only benefit the people of Nyinahin, but the Ashanti Region and the entire country, since sports is a major tool for curbing and controlling social vices, he added.

Mr Emmanuel Asigri, The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the National Youth Authority(NYA) said, the project was long overdue, as the country lacked such infrastructure for youth development.

He said, aside talents that would be developed, the youth could also acquire skills in Information and Communications Technology(ICT).

Chief of Nyinahin, Nana Amampene Boateng Twum II, urged the youth to embrace the project and develop their talents to become national assets.

He said, "this would also help the youth to desist from all forms of social vices and focus on developing their talents".

According to him, the country had never lacked sporting talents, but only needed the right infrastructure to develop them, adding that, the multipurpose centers would address that, after completion".
