"There Is Power Struggle Within The NDC" :Obed Asamoah

The Life Patron of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Dr. Yao Obed Asamoah, says he has deliberately refused to comment on the performance of the government in power and also what goes on within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) party. He said there was a history of his association with personalities concerned and with the party, as such people will see whatever you say in terms of happened in the past. "They would not look at things in objective terms, he stated. According to the onetime Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, there is an on-going big power struggle within the NDC, and "I dont want to become a reference point, he said. I dont want to be a factor in that power struggle, that is why I have remained silent for now, he added. Dr. Yaw Obed Asamoah also gave reasons why his party (the DFP) has been absent from the countrys political landscape for a while now. Very little has been heard of the party formed largely by breakaway members of the ruling NDC since the 2008 elections. This has fuelled speculations that it is broke. But the DFP Life Patron says it is because the DFP is not as big as the other two political parties, the NDC and the NPP. Naturally, we are probably not as news worthy as the other two, he said. He revealed that the DFP will organise its congress come next year (2011) to elect new executives and leaders of the party. Ours will take place next year because the last one was in 2008, he added.
