Self Imposed Curfew In Takoradiā€¦As Thieves, Kidnappers Terrorize Community

Days where people will sit and unwind with loved ones or friends after a hard day’s work seems to be a thing of the past as resident of Takoradi in the Western Region now lock themselves up in their homes to avoid being mugged or their children kidnapped.

Reports of kidnapping started emerging early January 2019 with about three teenagers reportedly missing. Even though residents claim more than three teenagers have been kidnapped, the Takoradi divisional police command says only three parents have reported the case to the station.

When Peace FM Western regional correspondent, Appiah Danquah visited Takoradi around 4pm, the place almost seemed like a ‘ghost town’. According to him, if you are in Takoradi and you find yourself outside your home after 6pm, you are either robbed or kidnapped.

Per the report, when the thieves are arrested, they are released few days afterwards and then they return to the community to terrorize residents especially the one who caused his arrest.

Meanwhile, the Takoradi divisional police is set to hold a press conference to address the issue of kidnapping and other crimes.
