Dress Rehearsal Of 2020! NDC Losing Focus?

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), the leading opposition party, which is noted for strategic and serious ways of doing things, is lacking direction and losing focus, something which was reflected in the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election held in Accra yesterday.

There were clear signals in the early hours of the day that the NDC had prepare poorly for the exercise that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was scared it was going to lose.

The part is disorganized to the extent that the leadership is finding it extremely difficult to prioritize its activities to inspire confidence among the millions of die-hard supporters of the party.

The party that hitherto was the warehouse of scenario thinkers cannot develop antidotes to problems confronting it, and thus making things look as if there are no elders and leaders within the family.

The party, fully aware of the import of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, behaved as if nothing was at stake and left the door ajar for the ruling NPP to do what they want within that constituency.

An important assignment like the Ayawaso-West Wuogon by-election was made to look like it was of no use to the NDC.

The party did nothing to counter the intimidating and rigging agenda of the NPP to the surprise of observers of the by-election.

As early as 3am yesterday, the NPP had placed members of the dreaded Invisible and Delta Forces at vantage points within the constituency to harass persons at polling areas that were perceived to be against the NPP.

While the NPP came together as a powerful unit for the by-election, the NDC was engaged in activities that had no bearing on yesterday’s activity.

It was not surprising that the bully tactics of the NPP were unleashed in the early hours of the day to scare the NDC so that the rigging agenda would be activated.

The NDC’s pulling out of the election hours after voting started was simply unthinkable because if the party had prepared well the NPP would not have had the opportunity to misbehave to the extent of firing gun shots to wound people.

Just days to the crucial event that was going to confirm the incompetence and failures of the NPP government, certain persons who say they want to lead the NDC were demanding that ballot papers for primaries to elect a flagbearer be printed from a particular printing press.

As a matter fact, those NDC flagbearer-aspirants are becoming distractions with their actions. First, they succeeded in getting filing fees to be reduced so they feel that they could have their way with ballot papers printing too.

The aspirants claiming to love the NDC more than any other creatures should have pooled resources together toward the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

It is obvious that the NPP knowing very well that the NDC would pull out of the election upon the slightest intimidation and harassment would develop more violent tactics with the state machine behind the party.

Immediately after the death of Emmanuel Kyeremanten Agyarko, the NPP started the strings to ensure that the party was well prepared for the by-election.

State resources were thrown into the election as lots of development projects were started within the constituency to convince the electorate.

The NPP’s tricks were to sway the minds of the electorate from its monumental failures, after whetting the appetite of Ghanaians with huge electoral promises.
