We’ll Equip Ourselves With ‘Weapons’ To Radio Stations If… - NDC Communication Officer

Eastern Regional Communication Officer of the NDC, Darlas Ampomah Williams says his party’s communication team will not hesitate to protect themselves if owners of various radio stations refuse to do so.

Darlas Ampomah wondered why the production team of the Asempa FM’s political talk show could do nothing to protect their National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi when he was attacked by NPP’s Nana B, last Friday.

According to Darlas, the party’s communication team is demanding an official apology from the Multimedia Group after threatening that “We will boycott all their platforms if they refuse to do so”.

The Accra-based radio station was discussing the violence that rocked the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency by-election, which was won by the NPP's Seyram Lydia Alhassan, when in the course of the debate the National Youth Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP], Henry Nana Boakye popularly known as ‘Nana B' crossly banged the head of Sammy Gyamfi for alleged derogatory remarks against his (Nana B's) person and that of the president, Nana Akufo-Addo.

But, Darlas Ampomah Williams, in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ warn that “If the police don’t do anything about this issue, we will have no option than to tell our communicators to equip themselves to face them [NPP]”

“We will get there and this country will reach a point of no return. Media houses are not saying anything about this issue. The clergy says they prefer watching animal kingdom than to talk about political issues. When we [NDC] hit back, we equally expect everyone to keep their mouth shut,” he told host Kwesi Aboagye
