We Are Democratising Development - Bawumia

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has touted the achievements of the current Akufo-Addo administration.

He said the most notable is the democratization of development programmes through the implementation of holistic development initiatives.

That, he said, is reflected in the introduction and implementation of a national ID system, property address system and mobile money interoperability to ensure greater financial inclusion.

He disclosed this when members of the International Democrats Union (IDU) and Democrat Union of Africa (DUA) called on him at the Jubilee House yesterday.

He stressed that IDU and DUA have shared values of democracy, freedom and free market system, saying “we share these things because we care about our people.”

As a result Dr. Bawumia called on members of the IDU and DUA to support one another and spread centre-right ideology across the world, especially in Africa.

Present were National Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay, General Secretary, John Boadu, National Organiser, SammiAwuku and National Youth Organiser, Nana Boakye.

The NPP is currently hosting a three-day DUA Conference at the Labadi Beach Hotel, which would focus on relaunching its regional organization.

DUA would provide a platform for African member parties to exchange best practices and receive training for campaigning and governing.

It would also connect like-minded organisations of the centre-right in Africa to help them win power and govern well.

The meeting will also focus on developing a new structure and legal framework to elect members of the DUA Board to steer the affairs of the organization.

In addition, the organization is also proposing to appoint President Akufo-Addo as Honorary Patron of the DUA in recognition of the party’s contribution to the organization.

According to the IDU, President Akufo-Addo is one of the three elected centre-right presidents on the continent of Africa.

The rest are Botswana President, Mokgweetsi Masisi and Sierra Leonian President, Julius Maada Bio.

His appointment as honorary patron would ensure prosperity as well as stability in the respective countries.
