Stop Preaching Violence - Kokofu Rebukes Mahama

Former NPP Member of Parliament for Bantama constituency, Henry Kokofu has slammed former President John Dramani Mahama over his recent "boot for boot" comment targeted at the incumbent government.

Following the chaos that characterized the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, former President Mahama warned the ruling New Patriotic Party under the leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo to be on their guard as they prepare for the 2020 general elections.

Mr. Mahama sounded caution to President Akufo-Addo and his government, stating emphatically that "we are not going to joke in 2020  . . . we are going to match them boot for boot".

" . . the NDC has revolutionary roots and that when it comes to unleashing violence, nobody can beat us in unleashing violence," he further stressed.

Responding to the comments by the former President, Henry Kokofu asked him (Mahama) and leaders in the nation to stop "preaching violence in the future".

According to him, "two mistakes don't make a right" and so the former President's comment should be condemned outright.

Henry Kokofu told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme that Ghana needs to move on from the past and so the leaders should desist from making unsavoury and seditious comments.

Condemning the recent violent attacks on some electorates at Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, the former Bantama MP advised all parties not to encourage retaliatory actions because they suffered violence in the past.

"It was not good last time and it’s not good today. So, our past, our present and now someone vying to lead the NDC is predicting the future based on things we all condemn today. That is where the danger is and that is where the danger lies . . . That is where the real danger is,” he said.
