President Akufo-Addo Must Take a Speedy Decision On By-electIon Violence - Bia East MP

Member of Parliament for Bia East constituency in the Western Region, Richard Acheampong has said that no NDC member or executive would want to retaliate the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election brutality.

“ . . We are seeking from the police especially the President who is the Commander in charge of the Armed Forces to take a speedy decision on the act, as he claims to be in a hurry to build-up Ghana,” he said as panelist on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ newspaper discussion segment.

Richard Acheampong affirmed that to his knowledge “the Ghana Police Service is the only institution in charge of security issues during elections, so where from those men, who are they and why the masked faces if they are qualified security men as the Minister of State in charge of National Security, Bryan Acheampong claims”.

The Bia East MP as well cautioned his fellow politicians to stop making reference to previous issues that have happened in the past to support current occurrences.

“Let’s focus on what has happened today as we put Ghana first in our hearts,” he advised.

The Minority in Parliament on Tuesday marched to the police headquarters in Accra to demand the identities of masked armed men, who besieged the La Bawaleshie Presby School Polling Station during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election. 

Member of Parliament for the Tamale North Constituency Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini hinted on TV3 on Monday that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs will continue to march to the police headquarters until the identities of the men have been revealed.

According to the Tamale North MP, the claims by the police that they do not know the men who were driving in a their SWAT vehicle do not add up.
