Police Expands Investigation Committee . . . Issues Statement Form To Sam George

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante Apeatu has expanded the committee tasked to investigate the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election shooting incident to cover the professional as well as the criminal conduct of those involved in the incident.

According to a statement from the Ghana Police Service, the investigation committee will be headed by Deputy Director General, CID, ACP George Tweneboah.

Other members are from the police professional standard bureau, the police legal and professional prosecution directorate, the police operations as well as detectives from the police crime unit and airport divisions.

Meanwhile, statements have been taken from 16 victims of the Ayawaso West Wuogon shooting incident.

Apart from that a statement form has been issued to Sam George, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram constituency to submit his statement for necessary action.

“Video footages connected to the incident are being critically examined to aid investigations. The police administration wishes to assure that it has taken note of concerns raised by members of the public, parliamentarians, statemen and reputable organisations among others and that thorough investigations will be conducted in line with the ongoing transformation agenda of the police service,” the statement added.
