Royalties Paid By GHAMRO Is An Insult To Me - Kontihene

Musician Kontihene says the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) does not respect him.

Speaking on Neat FM's 'Entertainment Ghana' programme on Wednesday, the musician noted that the money that GHAMRO gives him as royalties for his hard work in the music industry is just peanut and insignificant for him to accept.

He told host Kwame Adjetia that GHAMRO pays him 200 cedis as royalties for the music he has done over the years.

"The money GHAMRO gives me is an insult" while he receives huge royalties from foreign countries, he said irritatedly.

According to him, "every week, some (money) come from New Zealand, Tanzania, Ireland, US, Australia . . . When you stream my song online . . . all the online platforms, I’m paid weekly. There is a report every week,” but GHAMRO only distributes royalties that after he has received, feels so slighted by the organization.
