IGP Intentionally Reshuffling To Cover-up By-election Violence - Asiedu Nketia Alleges

The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has alleged that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante Appeatu is an expert in covering up wrong doings in the country.

According to him, the IGP who does that through reshuffles is fond of transfering senior police officials anytime there is a major incident that needs to be investigated.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr David Asante-Apeatu, has reassigned 122 police officers in the latest shake-up in the Ghana Police Service.

The reassignments, according to two separate lists dated February 6 and 7, 2019, took immediate effect.

The affected are mainly senior officers of the service.

Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he indicated that the police who were directly involved in the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence and were at post have been transfered just to cover up their evil deeds.

"In our regime Dzifa Attivor and the likes resigned from their position even though she had not been found guilty. What is the IGP still doing at post. He should resign or we will force him to resign," he added.

However, he said they will continue to speak until there is justice for the by-election violence victims.
