President Akufo-Addo Is "Naked" If, . . . - Hassan Ayariga

Leader and Founder of the All People's Congress (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga, has proposed that an amendment to the constitution to make state institutions autonomous.

He believes that this will go a long way to help the country fight the issue of insecurity.

Speaking on Okay FM's "Ade Akye Abia" Programme, he explained that the President, Nana Akufo Addo, has failed to allow the security agencies to act.

Our peaceful country that was handed over by various former presidents, right from former President Rawlings to Former President Mahama, is now threatened and doomed with various acts of kidnappings, assassinations and brutalities, a phenomenon which the government of the day lead by President Akufo Addo has failed to tackle head on.”

"But when these state institutions are autonomous, they will function effectively without any strings attached to their daily operations.

"Anytime, I speak to the President, I profess solutions to him. But I believe that, if as a state, we decide to amend the constitution, there will be proper law and order in the country. The police are even scared to act because they fear being victimized by the government in power and this does not help our cause as a country," he added.

To him, if the president, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces is "not aware of the calibre of men and women recruited into our security forces, then the president is a naked king and we are all in big trouble.”
