MPs Express Worry On Fire Outbreak

Members of Parliament have advocated intensive safety measures to be put in place to halt the spate of fire outbreaks in the country. Apart from ensuring adequate resources for the Ghana National Fire Service to function effectively, the MPs have also stressed the need for more public awareness on the prevention of fire. The MPs made these suggestions when they contributed to a statement by Hon. Alfred Agbeshie, MP for Ashaiman on the recent fire outbreak at TOR and other places in the country. The MP for Atwima-Mponua, Hon. Isaac Asiamah said safety measures at public buildings and night clubs should be vigorously enforced to prevent or minimize loss of lives in the event of a fire outbreak. The MP for Akropong, Hon William Ofori Boafo called for outcomes of enquiries into fire outbreaks to be made public to make the public alert.
