Past Executives Need Commendation - NDC

The National chairman of ruling NDC party,Dr.Kwabena Agyei has said there is a need to commend the past party executives who ensured the party won power in the last general elections. Dr Kwabena Agyei led the new executive body of the NDC on Friday, January 29 to meet with President Mills at the Castle Osu. Among the executive members who paid the courtesy call on the President was the former first lady Nana Koandu Agyemang Rawlings, a vice Chair of the NDC and a fierce critic of the Atta Mills led administration. The visit, according to Party Chairman, Dr Kwabena Agyei was to formally introduce the executives to the leader of the party President Mills. According to him although there have been certain disagreements within the new executives in recent times, he would ensure that peace prevails in the party. It is recalled that Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, in an interview with Citi News on Thursday, January 28, took a swipe at Dr. Kwabena for consenting to the presidents recent reshuffle without informing the new party leadership. But Kwabena Agyei, at Fridays meeting promised to do everything possible to ensure that such things do not happen in the party. Mr President, you may have been hearing post congress things on the radio; I promise you that I, as the leader of that executive will try and behave myself. He assured. President Mills on his part, called for unity of purpose within the current executives of the NDC. According to the President when the right chord is struck between government and the party, democracy will be enhanced. On meeting the leadership of the party, some of whom have accused him of failing to consult them before embarking on the recent Ministerial reshuffle, President Mills appealed for calm within the NDC. My only appeal is that we have finished with the election and the campaigns are over, we may have adopted some means of making our point to the public. At this time let us know that we have come together as a team, we each have our strength and weakness but when we combine our strength, there is nothing that we cannot achieve. I am very hopeful of not only a better future for our party but a better Ghana also. He said.
