There Is No Excuse For Salaga Violence . . . "It Is a Source of Shame" - Deputy Chief of Staff

Samuel Abu Jinapor, a Deputy Chief of Staff, has condemned the violence that occurred in Salaga following the President’s announcement of Damongo, in the West Gonja District as the regional capital of the Savannah region.

Some youths in Salaga on Tuesday burnt the Salaga South New Patriotic Party Constituency Office.

They also pulled down an undisclosed number of party billboards in the town.

He has therefore asked the Police Service to deal with the perpetrators without fear or favour.

Abu Jinapor who was reacting to this in an interview on Peace FM's morning show ‘kokrokoo’ programme said such chaos gives the country a bad image especially in this ‘21st century’.

“The President is determined to ensure law and order in the country; making sure the right thing is done…” and so “we will make sure the security forces apply the law to the latter . . . what they did was uncalled for . . . if you disagree, you don’t have to resort to this”.

He further described it as “a criminal” and that “the full force of the law should be brought to bear on them . . . there is no excuse for this action . . . this is a source of shame and not a source of pride”.

Meanwhile, the Police have arrested seven persons in connection with the burning of the NPP office.
