Salaga NPP Apologizes To President

The New Patriotic party (NPP) executives in the Salaga South Constituency have tendered wholesome and unconditional apology to the President, His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo, the Kpembe Wura, the NPP National Executives, Regional Executives and all Ghanaians for the reprehensible actions of the youth of the party in the constituency.

The apology was contained in a statement by the NPP executives in the Salaga South Constituency on the violence that greeted the announcement of Damongo as the regional capital for Savannah Region.

The statement was from the constituency executives for Salaga South and the entire NPP members in the constituency. They said that in the first place they wish to recommend the President Nana Akufo Addo, for his selection of Damongo as the Regional Capital for the newly created Savannah Region.

“As leadership, we accept and welcome the decision of the president,” they said.

They said that it is unfortunate to recall the incident that transpired after the President’s announcement of Damongo as the Regional Capital for Savannah in the Salaga Township.

“We condemn wholeheartedly the act of violence by the irate youth in no uncertain terms and completely disassociate ourselves (NPP) from the activities of the youth that resulted in uprooting the signage of the President and burning the constituency party office,” they said.

The statement was signed by Abdulai H. Abiola, Salaga South Constituency Scribe.

They said that it is important to repeat the point that the NPP in the Salaga South Constituency has no history of violence and detests all manner of violence tendencies.

“We wish to assure the general public that, the party would never provide cover for the offenders of violence. We are a party instituted on the principle of rule of law and other democratic beliefs and forever remain committed to upholding those instituting principles,” they said.

They therefore called on the applicable institution especially, the Police to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.

“We will like to use this medium to condemn the activities of some self-seeking individuals who remotely incited the youth to embark on such unfortunate escapade. We also wish appeal to the teaming youth and the good people of Salaga to exercise patience and accept the choice o the President as the Will of Allah.

We should always have it at back of our mind that, emotional decision are often regretted after. We also acknowledge the prayers of our revered Imams and Ulamms and those who played diverse roles in restoring peace to Salaga,” they statement concluded.
