"I'm Not Afraid of Anything In This World', But . . .' - Nana Ofori Owusu

Nana Ofori Owusu, aspiring National Chairman of the People's Progressive Party (PPP) has asked the Emile Short Commission of Inquiry to review the electoral processes and make recommendations to enhance the country's electoral system.

Speaking on 'Kokrokoo' on Peace FM, Nana Ofori Owusu stated that though the mandate given to the Commission is to launch a thorough investigation into the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, he would also like them to look at the country's elections in general because there are lapses that need to be addressed.

Commenting on the violence that rocked the by-election, the PPP National Chairman aspirant condemned the activities that resulted in about eight people sustaining gun injuries and other attacks that occurred at a polling station within the constituency.

Expressing concerns about the by-election, Nana Ofori Owusu told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that though he is a very "tough guy. I am very brave. I am not afraid of anything in this world. Even in the US, in very dark alleys where people fire gunshots; I survived it all," he lost a heartbeat during the Talensi by-election in 2015.

He held a strong view that the outcome of by-elections could potentially affect the general elections and feared for the 2020 elections therefore calling on the Commission to scrutinize the entire electoral system of the country.
