Shooting@NDC A/R Office....Four (4) Suspects Named

The Ashanti Regional Police has launched a manhunt for four people suspected to be involved in the shooting that took place in Kumasi at the regional office of the National Democratic Congress.

In an interview with Peace FM News, the Acting Regional Police PRO, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, explained that the four suspects who are believed to be behind the attack, are alleged to be part of an NDC vigilante group, Hawks.

"The suspects who are currently on the police wanted list include Husein Barnabas, also known as Warrior; Mijima, Damos, and Abu Taliban," he stated.

This search comes after some executive members and supporters of the NDC were attacked at the regional office in Kumasi, on February 18, during a high powered meeting of both some national and regional executives of the party.

He added that the police were working closely with party officials to apprehend the suspects.

One person is reported dead while another sustained serious injuries after a free-for-all gunfight ensued during the meeting.

The exchange reportedly ensued between an unknown group and another called the 'hawks'.

Shooting Was Premeditated

Meanwhile, a security expert, Adams Bona, has described the shooting at the Ashanti regional party office of the NDC as premeditated.

He says considering the close range shooting of the victim, you could see that the victim had planned his act.

Speaking in an interview with PeaceFM News, he explained that the police should expedite their investigations into the matter and make sure that the perpetrators are brought to book.

However, he added, "it’s about time politicians denounce these vigilante groups and ensure that they exist no more in our body politics.

"The issue of arms should also be a major concern to the government. It is about time government begins to regulate the ownership and licensing of arms in the country."
