Shooting@NDC Office "Deliberate"...Our Intelligence Report Indicated Impending Doom - Asiedu Nketia

General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has revealed that prior to the tragic shooting incident at the party's Ashanti Regional Headquarters, the hierarchy of the opposition party picked up intelligence of worsening internal bickering and an impending danger in the upcoming Presidential Primary scheduled to take place on Saturday February 23, 2019.

According to him, it was based on this security report that the leadership of the party decided to resolve all outstanding issues by meeting with and announce to stakeholders in the region, security measures that the party intended putting in place ahead of the elections to deter those who may harbour ill-intentions of disrupting the primary.

The NDC Chief Scribe thus strongly believed the shooting incident at the party's headquarters in the Ashanti Region which resulted in the instant death of one party member and other in a critical condition was pre-meditated.

He added that the fact that the perpetrator of that heinous act went on to fire multiple shots at the deceased even when the victim was lying in a pool of blood, cannot be said to be an accidental incident.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Asiedu Nketia admitted there is a Joseph Yamin and Nana Kwasi factions fighting over who should supervise the activities of the party in the region.

Joseph Yamin, a former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister lost in his bid to win the Ashanti Regional Chairman seat in a hotly contested election against Augustus Adrew Nana Akwasi. The two have been at logger-heads ever since.

While the meeting was going on, someone came to bang on the door and alerted us on the shooting at the premises after heated argument ensued among group members gathered and the killer drove away. The shooting is not accidental; it is deliberate because the killer shot at the persons more than once. As the person was lying in the pool of blood, the bandit went ahead to shoot him again,” the NDC General Secretary recounted.

He, however, added that the reason for the shooting is best known to the killer or killers, and therefore charged the police to swiftly investigate and get to the bottom of the incident.

Our focus was to resolve the misunderstanding in the party and reminded them that the focus should be on seeing to a successful primary....so it does not matter who follows Joshua Alabi, JDM, Sylvester Mensah, Bagbin, Spio-Garbrah, Gossie Tanoh; they should put aside their differences and ensure the success of the election,” Asiedu Nketiah stated.
