The chiefs and opinion leaders of Ahanta  in the Western Region have called on President Akufo Addo to do them the honour by choosing a regional Minister from the Ahanta Land.

In their quest for new Western Regional Minister due to the creation of new region, they have  passionately throw their weight behind the former  DCE, Mr. Kwasi Biney.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced Sefwi-Wiawso as the capital of the newly created Western North Region

He disclosed this last Friday at the Jubilee House in Accra, at a ceremony to present Constitutional Instruments (CI 117) to give effect to the creation of new regions.

The president however allocated a seed money for the new region for developmental projects.

He named Hon. Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, Western Regional Minister as caretaker Minister for the region until a substantive one is appointed.

According to them the current regional minister Dr. Kweku Afriyie is from Sefwi Wiawso and his deputy Mrs. Eugenia Kusi is also from Tarkwa, believing Dr. Afriyie will ultimately lead the western north region so as Mrs. Gifty Eugenia Kusi as his deputy.

The chiefs looked at how resourceful the Ahanta land has been to Ghana particular New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“Hon Kwesi Biney stand tall  among any other candidate..and are we suggesting to the president to allow Mr. Kwasi Biney to lead the region as the substantive regional minister".

“He's been involved with the party's fundamentals from 1992 to date and have overseen numerous party  assignments notably, the general elections from 1996 till date, internal elections in which he contested some and oversaw others".

They hinted he was recently part of the transition team with Madam Gifty Eugenia Kusi, the current deputy regional minister, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, head of local government responsible for western, central, Ashanti and Brong Ahafo,
