President Nana Akufo-Addo has said Ghana is in safe hands despite some challenges facing the nation.

The President made the comment today in his State of the Nation address to Parliament.

According to the President, efforts by his government to ensure a resilient economy is bearing fruits as reflected in the country's GDP growth and increase in revenue mobilisation.

Touching on education, the President said his government will not let poverty become an excuse for the inability of some children to access basic education.

He said his government will ensure that basic education in the country is redefined to include Senior High School. He said government will build 10 state of the art technical and vocational schools in ten regions of the country.

On health, the President said the NHIS has been made effective as an amount of Ghc 1.2 billion NHIS arrears inherited by his government from the administration of former President John Dramani Mahama has been paid by his government.

President Akufo-Addo also said every case of alleged fraud will be investigated by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

The President also touched on measures to carry out road projects across the country.

On politically related violence spearheaded by political party vigilante groups in the country , President Akuffo Addo called for dialogue between the NPP and NDC soon to stop the menace and said he will introduce a bill to Parliament for the passage of a law to end politically related vigilantism if dialogue fails to produce a good result .

Minority punches Holes

But Minority Ranking Member on Finance Hon Ato Forson has said the 2- hour State of the Nation Address ( SONA ) to Parliament today by President Akufo-Addo did not contain any concrete achievement by his government in the various sectors of the economy.

Ato Forson made the comment in an interview with Peace FM.

Whilst hailing the call by the President for a dialogue between the NPP and NDC to address politically related violence in the country, Hon Ato Forson said there are already laws in the country against politically related violence which should be enforced by government, but that has not been done.

Making a comment on the address by the President, the former Minister of Power and MP for Pru East Dr Kwabena Donkor said much has not been done by the government of President Akufo-Addo in the energy sector since the NPP came into power in 2017.
