Mahama Will Perform Worse In 2020 Than In 2016 Election - Kofi Akpaloo

Leader and founder of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mr. Kofi Akpaloo has predicted that former President John Dramani Mahama who last Saturday was elected as the Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2020 election will perform worse than he did in 2016.

According to him, just as his prediction of the percentage vote of Ex-President Mahama and his 6 other contestants became a reality, he is assuring former President John Mahama of his second defeat in the 2020 general elections.

“I predicted that Mahama will not get less than 90% and he had 95% of the Presidential Primary, and I also predicted that due to the skewed measures put in place for the primary, none of the other 6 aspirants will pull 3% and indeed the second highest was about 1.5%, and so I knew Mahama will certainly lead the NDC in 2020 election, but he will lose the 2020 election. He can move heaven and earth, Mahama will lose the 2020 elections,” he predicted.

He dared that “if Mahama is able to get 75% of the votes he had in 2016, change my name”.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Kofi Akpaloo explained that former President Mahama will have to convince Ghanaians on his assertion that Ghana is not ready for the Free Senior High policy, which has been implemented by President Akufo-Addo in his first year in office.

“Akufo-Addo has brought Free SHS and didn’t Mahama say it was not going to be possible? You said Ghana is not ready for the Free SHS policy but now it is working; have you not lied to Ghanaians? Can he go and convince Ghanaians that Akufo-Addo is lying to them?” he asked.

He therefore said former President Mahama and his team have a lot of work to do by coming again with another message which will be convincing enough to change the minds of Ghanaians.

His prediction is borne out of the accusation made by NDC lawyer, Edudzi Tamakloe that he [Kofi Akpaloo] is in bed with the Akufo-Addo government because of the ECG contract he received.

But Kofi Akpaloo responded that he has never received any contract from Akufo-Addo as he didn’t get from former President Mahama’s regime; thus, his company has bid for many contracts which have been published in national dailies and he is fortunate to get one from ECG to supply electrical equipments to provide electricity for people in Volta Region.

“I am a Ghanaian citizen and I qualify to do any business in the country because I have a registered company. If I had used illegal means to get the contract, the story would have been different . . . it was not Akufo-Addo who picked his phone to instruct ECG to give me the contract. Why didn’t Akufo-Addo call other agencies I have been denied contracts to give them to me as well?” he quizzed.
