National Security Must Investigate Ofosu-Ampofo - Sam Payne

Ashanti Regional Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sam Payne, has called on the National Security to investigate the purported leaked audio of the NDC National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, Sam Payne condemned the NDC National Chairman for inciting his party faithfuls against EC Boss, Jean Mensa and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo could be heard in a leaked audio recording circulating on social media charging the party members to "wage a relentless war against this EC Chair".

The recording is believed to have been done at a meeting after the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency by-election held on January 31, 2019.

The NDC National Chairman also instructed the party to make life uncomfortable for the NPP saying "we will go after them, but we will not go after them face-to-face. We have to use tactical operation to make life very uncomfortable for them. We will target some people and we will let the people know that their lives are in danger", adding that "once their lives are in danger they themselves will be careful. As for that one I want to assure that we will go all out to ensure…as President Mahama said when it comes to this game we are better than them".

According to Sam Payne, the audio has exposed the ill-intent of the NDC towards the 2020 elections and should not be swept under the carpet.

“The content is so bad . . . This is a thought out plan . . . I think it’s a matter for the National Security to pick up and investigate,” he said.
