'Reclassify NDC As a Terrorist Organisation' - NPP Loyal Ladies

The NPP Loyal Ladies, a vibrant female group in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has describe the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a terrorist organisation over the recent leaked tape of the party's Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.

According to them they were shock to the bone for a Chairman of an opposition political party to advocate vigilantism, kidnapping, murder, threaten women, children and clergy which speaks volumes about the morality of a party that wishes to regain power by any means necessary.

In a statement they call on Ghanaians and the world to reclassify the National Democratic Congress as a terrorist organization.

Read Full Statement below;

The recent leak of a tape recording in which the NDC Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, advocates violence against perceived enemies, underlines the true nature of his political party. Violence is in the NDC’s DNA; it is their tradition. A cursory examination of our nation’s history would make manifest its violent roots, as evidenced by its penchant for staging coups, kidnappings, executions and numerous other human rights abuses. It was a movement born in violence and one that meted out violence to whoever opposed it. This modus operandi continues this day.

That a Chairman of the opposition political party can advocate vigilantism, kidnapping, murder, threaten women, children and clergy speaks volumes about the morality of a party that wishes to regain power by any means necessary. As an organisation, the NDC is violent from the top down – from the Chairman to its foot soldiers. It is rather telling that the Chairman, someone who sits at the top of its political hierarchy, can commandeer hooligans to travel from Tamale to Accra, to mete out acts of downright thuggery. It is a matter that should concern all right-thinking and peace-loving Ghanaians.

However, in the eyes of the NDC, the controversy resulting from the tape is a storm in a teacup, a trifle. Even the NDC’s Deputy-Director of Communication, Kwaku Boahen, retorted, “Ofosu Ampofo was addressing NDC members so what did you expect?”.

It appears that the gravity of the situation is beyond the grasp of the NDC. Even the former president, John Mahama, invoked supporters to “dismiss it [the tape] with the contempt it deserves.” Indeed the NDC flagbearer has also said on video that "no one can beat the NDC when it comes to unleashing violence’’ The fact that the they can treat use of violence with such levity, tells one all that is needed to know about the NDC. They are incorrigibly violent. It is a problem that they should deal with, both with urgency and alacrity. Yet they chose to bury their heads in the sand publicly and endorse violence privately. That Samuel Ofosu Ampofo can claim, “The NDC believes in the rule of law and we are Democrats”, is most galling indeed. The gumption to make such a claim is most startling in light of the contents of the tape.

Ofosu-Ampofo’s comments were recorded at an internal party meeting with party bigwigs present. It is rather instructive that said comments received applause from the attendees. This goes to show that violence is, indeed, entrenched right at the top of the party. The fact that threats to the safety of the EC Chairwoman, Jean Mensa, are met with approval is an eye-opener into the violent, misogynistic and murky world of the NDC. Only a weak and insecure man would make threats against a woman. It appears that the NDC hierarchy is full of such weak men.

The contents of the tape were only made public by chance. It makes one wonder what is the full extent of the nefarious activities? What do the Ghanaian public not know about?

The NDC would like to pass itself off as respectable political organisation. However, the fact that it is prepared to use violence to achieve its aims, in order to intimidate and coerce, indicates it is nothing but a hotbed of thugs, reprobates and vigilantes. In fact, their methods, by the strictest definition of the term, are tantamount to terrorism. Ghanaians would be right to conclude that the NDC as an entity is an insidious, malignant menace to society.

We therefore call on Ghanaians and indeed the world to reclassify the National Democratic Congress as a terrorist organization.
