Married Couple Commit Suicide Over Inability To Bear Children

Residents of Awutu Papaase No.2 in the Central Region were thrown into a state of shock after they found a married couple dead in their room.

They claim they might have committed suicide over their inability to bear children for a number of years after many miscarriages.

Their lifeless bodies were found in their room in what is believed to a suicide.

Confirming the sad incident to Peace FM News Correspondent, Seth Mantey, DSP Christopher Darkey, Kasoa Ofaakor District Police Commander explained that his outfit was informed about the said incident.

"So I dispatched a team to the scene who found the wife conscious, but unfortunately she also passed away even before we could transport them to the hospital," he said.

DSP Darkey however added that the police has commenced investigations into the matter but their preliminary investigations have revealed that the couple might have taken their own lives as a result of the societal pressure they have been receiving for their inability to bear children in the past seven years of marriage.

The couple can only be identified as 34-year-old Nicholas Larbi and wife Sarah Asare.
