American Evangelist Richard Roberts, who is also Chief Executive of Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association on Wednesday, declared that the yoke overhanging Ghana was broken, signifying spiritual and material prosperity for the more than 22 million Ghanaians. "The yoke of bondage over Ghana has been broken," the American Evangelist declared, at a meeting with President John Evans Atta Mills, at the Osu Castle in Accra. The man of God who is in the country for a visit, prayed for an anointing for the nation, as he expressed his joy to be in Ghana and meet President Mills personally. President Mills underscored the need for the nation to build its super structures on sound spiritual foundations. He acknowledged the hand of God on his election as President, the assumption of the NDC administration, and recognized the role of men of God in building a strong spiritual base for Ghana. President Mills said: "man lives by the Grace of Almighty God and it is necessary to do what is right in the sight of God so that He would continue to bless the nation". He stressed the need to reach many people with the word of God and recalled with fond memories that many Ghanaians, had sometime ago, listened with great joy the remarkable sermons of the late Oral Roberts. President Mills described the late Roberts as a trailblazer who made himself accessible and visible to many Ghanaians including himself. A delegation led by Mr. Michael Little, President of America-based Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) also called on President Mills. President Mills wished the network happy 50th anniversary celebrations. He commended the network for reaching out to a lot of people with the Good News and making an impression on the lives of people within its 50 years of existence. "Your activities are in tandem with Government's agenda of investing in people, providing an improved health care, and improving the lives of people especially the vulnerable," he said. Mr. Little said the network runs a 14-nation television programme, and had operated for 10 years in Ghana and 20 years in Africa. In addition to the broadcasting programme, the network had dug 520 wells in remote areas in Ghana, and runs a medical assistance programme in remote villages.
