Ghanaians In Danger Over ‘Alleged’ Kidnapping Of Palestinian Businessman

Two Ghanaians who were allegedly abducted along with a Palestinian businessman by some operatives of a state security agency are now said to be worried about their safety and security, The Insight has gathered.

The two, this paper is reliably informed, were waylaid and arrested on December 14, 2018 near Nyaho Clinic at Airport in Accra together with a Palestinian businessman whom they had gone to pick up from the Kotoka International Airport and kept in a state detention centre for six days without food and water.

Since that fateful day the whereabouts of the Palestinian businessman (name withheld for now) remains unknown and the two Ghanaians (driver and security guard) who were assigned by their boss to pick up the businessman on his arrival in Ghana sys their lives are in danger especially as the state agency denies having the Palestinian national in its custody.

This paper is reliably informed that the two Ghanaians have on countless occasions receive anonymous calls on their phones allegedly by state intelligence operatives who threaten them with re-arrest and severe bodily harm for refusing to keep their mouths shut over the incident.

It is feared, that this serious case of abduction, if not handled properly would have serious international consequences especially about Ghana’s image as a stable, peace-loving and law-abiding advocate of human rights in the African sub-region.

The businessman arrived in Ghana from Lebanon on 14th December 2018 on the invitation of a friend in Ghana to do business but ‘miraculously’ disappeared some minutes after being picked up from the Kotoka International Airport.

Very reliable sources indicate that the said Ghanaians intelligence officers in collaboration with some foreign intelligence agents ‘snatched’ the businessman in a Rambo style around the precincts of Airport.

Those who abducted him were allegedly in Khaki uniforms and they took him to an official detention centre along with the driver and guard.

The sources further claim that the businessman, guard and driver were interrogated separately by white hooded men with an accent.

The driver and guard were released after six days in detention.

Meanwhile, top security officials contacted by “The Insight” denied any knowledge of this operation.

One of them said “we cannot confirm that these victims were kept in the cells of BNI. There are no records to confirm that”.

It is suspected that the Palestinian businessman may have been smuggled out of the country to an unknown destination.

Security experts say that this case of kidnapping will add to the feeling of insecurity which is becoming pervasive in the country.
