The Chief Executive Officer of the Despite Group, Dr.Osei Kwame and the Managing Director, Dr. Fadda Dickson Narh, have been honoured at a lavish corporate event held over the weekend.
While Dr Osei Kwame was adjudged the "Outstanding Businessman, Entrepreneur of the Year", for his contribution to the development of the country, the MD was conferred with the "Lifetime Achievement Award" as the most distinguished Media CEO for his excellent managerial skills.
The award ceremony was held at the Accra International Conference centre with a tall list of the connoisseurs from different business backgrounds, Chief Executive Officers and more.
Organized by the Confederation of Governance Assessment Institute (COGAI) and the Bureau of Research on Governance Commerce and Administration (BORGCA), the PAN African Executive Awards Summit 2018, recognizes and honours Africans who have made a great impact in media and the business world.
According to the organizers, Dr Osei Kwame has over the years, contributed positively to the development of the media industry and that "he will never be forgotten when history is being written".
"Like, the great president of this country, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, you have contributed by setting up other industries in the country. Dr. Osei Kwame Despite has set up a number of industries in the country and has thus provided jobs for most graduates in the country.
This is not an award that Dr. Osei Kwame Despite attained based on merit or any other academic effort but because of his entrepreneurship efforts. We believe that his efforts in forming the radio stations has been instrumental in educating the masses thus playing a role in ensuring that the community stayed informed and updated and contributing to the ideals of pan africanism.
His successes shows how one can make a name for himself when he combines practical solutions with knowledge."
Other entities under the DGC include U2 Company Limited (Iodated Salt Production), Neat Foods Company Limited (which produces and markets NEAT Fufu, NEAT Banku, NEAT Abenkwan, NEAT Hausa Koko, NEAT Diary Products) and more.
Dr Osei Kwame Despite is also the CEO of these top-class radio stations; Okay FM, Neat FM, Peace FM, Hello FM and the very popular Peacefmonline.com portal. He also co-owns the most-watched TV station in Ghana, UTV.
Aside these, he has business interests in the real estate industry, importation and exportation of commodities etc.
