Drivers Should 'Park And Sleep' If Tired - Inusah Fuseini

The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central constituency, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini has advised public transport drivers to if possible park their vehicles and take a nap if exhausted during a long journey.

According to him, that will curb the carnage on Ghana's roads after expressing worry of why so many people die through road accidents in Ghana.

“Government through the Ministry of Roads And Highways must regulate the movement of busses on the roads in the evening. Drivers drive nonstop and they get tired, they don’t rest. What causes accidents is mostly human error. They should park and sleep if tired,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.

The former Minister for Roads And Highways comment comes three days after three separate road accidents – one in the Bono East Region, the other in the Central Region and Accra-Kumasi road, claimed the lives of close to 75 people, 35 of whom were burnt beyond recognition.

Inusah Fuseini however noted that some of the accidents can be avoidable if government put strict measures on our roads.

“There should be compulsory stops on our roads so drivers can rest. Government should pass a law. We can do this to at least curb these accidents,” he told host Kwesi Aboagye.
