Disbandment of Party Militia: Peace Council Agrees To Mediate – Otokunor [VIDEO]

The deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Otokunor has said the National Peace Council has agreed to mediate the meeting intended to formulate ideas towards the disbandment of vigilante groups.

According to him, the NDC “never trusted” the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP] so opted for the Peace Council which they have agreed to mediate the meeting.

“They are very happy to mediate the process,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.

The National Peace Council has received reports and invitation to mediate the planned meeting between the two political parties as suggested by President Akufo-Addo when he delivered his State of the Nation Address.

The NDC in its latest letter to the NPP proposed that the National Peace Council be appointed as the mediator for the meeting.

In a letter signed by the party’s National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo and addressed to President Akufo-Addo, he argued that such a meeting due to recurrent mistrust and suspicion between the two parties should have a credible national mediator.
