Progress Report of Ghana Gas Works on 'Dumsor'; Optimistic of Meeting 12 Days Deadline

Head of Communication for the Ghana Gas Company Limited, Ernest Owusu Bempah has said major tie-in is currently ongoing by Ghana Gas Engineers and once completed, Gas can be exported to the Volta River Authority(VRA) at Aboadze.

He said it will then be linked to WAPCO pinelines by 7th April, 2019 ahead on target to meet the final deadline.

"We can assure the nation that power will be restored after the full completion of the reverse flow," he said in an interview with Peacefmonline.com.

The schedule twelve-day shutdown has seen significant progress over the few days.

The under listed are the current status of the works or work-in-progress.

• The vent lines of the existing facilities have been decommissioned and tied to the new vent lines.

• The inlet tie-in works completed and leakage test conducted to about 87barg. Leakage test was successful.

• The Emergency Shutdown Valve (ESDV23011) termination works ongoing.

• The inlet and outlet of the Bypass Facility (ie. Schlumberger equipmernt) are both isolated and decommissioned pending the uninstallation of the pipelines.

• Sandpapering of the new pipelines, cleaning and painting of the new pipelines are ongoing, and they are expected to be completed tomorrow (Friday, 5th April, 2019).

• Levelling of the chippings under the main pipe rack commenced.

• Back filling and repositioning of the valve supports for the inlet valves to the Separators are ongoing, and they are expected to be completed tomorrow (Friday, 5th April, 2019).

• Loop check of ESDV23011 and ESDV23012 completed.

• Inerting of the VRA 1.5Km pipeline is ongoing.

• Completion of Gross Leakage test

It is expected that gas into the station for commissioning purpose only will start tomorrow (Friday, 5th April, 2019) and completed on Saturday, 6th April, 2019.

Once completed, gas can be exported to VRA at Aboadze on Sunday, 7th April, 2019 ahead of target.

Government says it will need 12 days to end the current power outages being experienced across the country.

Ghanaians have in the last week been experiencing unannounced disruptions in electricity supply to their homes and offices, heightening fears of a return to power crisis, popularly referred to as dumsor.

But the Head of Communication for the Ghana Gas Company Limited, Ernest Owusu Bempah says Ghana Gas is working harder to complete it before the 12days.
