Techiman-Nkoranza Road To Be Upgraded To Dual- Carriage Highway

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed the Ministry of Roads and Highways to upgrade the about 30-kilometre Techiman-Nkoranza road stretch in the newly-created Bono East Region.

Works on the project, expected to commence in June this year, will cover expansion and upgrading of the single-lane road to a dual-carriage asphaltic highway.

Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, has already presented 200 acres of land at Oforikrom on that particular stretch for the construction of the new Bono East Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) accommodations.

Mr. Kwasi Amoako-Atta, the Minister of Roads and Highways gave the directive at a town hall meeting in Techiman as part of President Akufo-Addo’s four-day working visit to the newly-created Bono-East and Ahafo Regions.

He said works would commence soon and advised estate developers and people in the area not to encroach the lands saying Government would not pay any compensation to people who would develop on lands around that particular stretch.

Mr. Amoako-Atta noted that the reconstruction of the road would open-up and facilitate the infrastructural development of the new regional capital.

President Akufo-Addo later handed over eight vehicles and five motorbikes for the smooth take-off of the RCC, and entreated the people to support Mr. Kofi Amoakohene, the new Regional Minister, who is the Member of Parliament for Atebubu-Amantin Constituency to facilitate rapid development of the region.
