Ofosu-Ampofo’s Trial Has Become Political - NDC Lawyer

A member of the legal team defending Chairman Ofosu-Ampofo in court over the leaked tape purported to be the Chairman’s voice, Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, says government is embarking on an expedition to find the right charges to proffer against their National Chairman and Deputy National Communication Officer, Kwaku Boahen.

According to him, the State Prosecutors have realised that one person cannot conspire to carry out an assault on Public Officers hence, “the first thing was to enter into fishing expedition to gather as many charges as possible and then screen to get the right one against them”.

“So if you remember, in the beginning they added Sammy Gyamfi to the case and they realised that it will not help them so they took him out of the case. Initially they added kidnapping to the charges and they removed kidnapping and replaced it with another charge. The whole thing has become political,” he asserted.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe claimed the whole prosecution is meant to show Ofosu-Ampofo and Kwaku Boahen where the power lies as they have power to rule the country.

He insisted that Kwaku Boahen, Deputy Communication Officer of the NDC never said anywhere that he was at the meeting when the NDC National Chairman said those things captured in the leaked audio.

He bemoaned that the investigator being the republic should have done a little investigation to ascertain whether Kwaku Boahen, Deputy Communication Officer of the party was a part of the meeting.
