Running The Economy Is Not a 'Class One' Business – Kokofu Tells NDC

Former Member of Parliament [MP] for Bantama constituency in the Ashanti Region, Henry Kwabena Kokofu has told members of the NDC not to dictate to them on how to run the economy.

Discussing on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ newspaper discussion about the Bank of Ghana’s [BoG] current directive to regulate Forex Bureau in aid of stabilizing the cedi, Henry Kokofu called on the BoG to beef up its awareness creation mode on the directive taken as it is a concrete idea, but will not be well achieved if the information surrounding the initiative is not dealt with in a proper manner.

To him, the current resource is to check on the real operators of Forex Bureaus in the country and those who don’t operate in a rightful manner.

Reacting to agitations by members of the largest opposition on why such a move from the government to stabilize the economy, he asked them to ‘shut up’.

“Running an economy and its financial sector is not a class one business as they think,” he told members of the opposition NDC.

Becoming furious on negative comments made about the BoG’s move to regulate the Forex Bureaus, he lashed out at the BoG of being too much relaxed on their dealings as far as the economy is concerned, especially authorities of the collapsed banks, who keep walking freely as if nothing has happened.
