Government Delegation Consoles Veteran Actor’s Family

A High powered delegation from the office of the President, has extended their condolences to the family of the late veteran actor Mr. Ebenezer Mensah Lartey of the Showcase in Ga fame, who passed away some few months ago.

The delegation, mainly appointees from the Greater Accra Region was led by Dr Lord Commey, Director of Operations at the Presidency who signed a book of condolence at the deceased’s residence at Adabraka in Accra.

Other members of the delegation were; Mr Nii Laryea Squire, Deputy General Secretary, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Oboshie Sai Cofie, former Minister of Information, Ernestina Naa Ayeley Mensah, Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Emmanuel Lamptey, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ga Central, Nii Boye Laryea, (MCE) Okaikwei North, Nii Adjei Tawiah (MCE), Korley Klottey, and Nii Lante Bannerman, of the Premix Council.

The rest were; Mr George Okley, Managing Director, Bulk Oil Storage Transportation (BOST, Madam Elizabeth Sackey, Deputy Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Korkwei Clottey, Director of Research of NPP and Henry Plange, National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

Mr Commey, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, after signing the book of condolence on behalf of the delegation, described the veteran actor in Ga Drama, as a national character who deserved state commendation.
He said, in everything the actor did towards the promotion of the Showcase in Ga, it was obvious that he was humble in the way he related to everyone, and deserved a befitting burial.

He assured the family of his involvement in any further arrangement including appealing to the state to assist in his burial.

Mr Jonathan Tackie Kommey, former MP of Odododiodioo, who welcomed the delegation on behalf of the family, expressed his appreciation for the support from government.

He later briefed the delegation on the final funeral arrangements scheduled to be held at the Centre for National Culture on Saturday, April 27, 2019, and thence to the Osu Cemetary for burial.
He said the thanksgiving service would be held at the Ernest Bruce Memorial Methodist Church at Adabraka on the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue.

The late "Ataa Mensah’’, as he was affectionately called, also known as Oketeku Dade was 91 years.

He left behind a wife, Mrs. Georgina Addo- Lartey, and three children.
