Glo rewards Black Stars with $250,000

Communication Sponsors of the Black Stars, Glo Mobile has doled out 250,000 dollars for the team's outstanding performance at the 27th Orange Africa Cup of Nations that ended in Angola a fortnight ago. Ghana were silver medallist in Angola and Glo's gesture according to Olabode Opeseitan, Head of Public Relations of Globacom was to fulfil their pledge to the team, which he said sold out a superlative performance in the tourney that pieced together Africa's best 16 teams. Mr Opeseitan said even though the performance of the Stars exceeded the expectation of others, it marched that of Glo's and insisted that "the superlative performance of the Black Stars once again justified the huge confidence we have in the team and the nation's football." "In spite of the injury that prevented many key players of the team from playing, our young and ebullient Black Stars fought gallantly till the end." Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) was grateful to Glo for their gesture and described the Stars achievement as an amazing one under the challenging conditions. He said the team will build on the Angola success in search of a smooth run in the June FIFA World Cup slated for South Africa. An under-strength Black Stars depleted by injuries took the continent by storm at the three-week fiesta before submitting to Egypt in the finals through a late goal.
